About Us
We publish a free, modern browser version of Go Fish — the classic card game of asking and matching — with 2, 3, or 4 player games against computer opponents and a layout that works on any screen.
Our craft
Ask well. Match often.
Every ask should tell you something, every book should feel earned. That loop is everything we design around.
Cards, one deck
Player counts
Books to claim
What we make
playgofish.app is the site behind our version of Go Fish. The product is a card game: ask an opponent for a rank you hold, take their matching cards on a hit, go fishing in the pool on a miss, and set aside every book of four you complete.
We are not an app-store publisher and there is nothing to download. The game is the website. That keeps load times short, works on phones and desktops alike, and avoids an account wall. Games played, games won, and streaks live in local browser storage on your device.
If you are comparing this to another Go Fish site, this page only speaks for playgofish.app. The rules and scoring described in our how-to-play guide and FAQ match this exact build.
Our story
Go Fish has stayed simple on purpose for as long as it has been played. We treat that simplicity as something to protect, not something to bury under modes and menus.
Go Fish is one of the simplest card games still commonly taught to kids, needing nothing but a standard deck and a couple of players. Its rules — ask, match, or go fishing — have barely changed in the decades it has been a go-to way to learn how to play cards.
Most Go Fish you can play online either needs other people online at the same time or buries the game inside a heavier virtual tabletop. We wanted something you could open alone and play immediately against opponents that actually respond.
playgofish.app is an independent implementation of the same ruleset most people grew up with. What is new is computer opponents that ask sensible questions, a plain-language move log so you always know what just happened, and a layout that works on a phone in one hand.
What we stand for
Open the page and a hand is already dealt. No account wall, no download, no splash video — you are asking your first question before you finish reading this sentence.
2, 3, or 4 players against real computer opponents, standard Go Fish rules, and a move log that tells you exactly what happened. Nothing is gated behind a "pro" toggle.
Games won, best books in a single game, and win streak per player count live on your device. We do not hold your record hostage behind a login, because there is no login.
The whole game is free forever. No energy meters, no interstitial video ads between deals, no surprise paywall on a second opponent.
Who it is for
playgofish.app is a family-friendly, single-player-versus-computer game with no chat and no store. A poor fit if you want to play against real people online; a good fit if you want the real game of Go Fish, exactly as you remember it, whenever you want a round.
A deal takes five to fifteen minutes depending on the table size. Go Fish is built for a quick round on a phone, not a long campaign.
There is no reading a rulebook first — ask for a rank you hold, take a hit, or go fishing on a miss. Anyone who can play cards at all can play this in a minute.
Your record stays on the device you played on. That is a deliberate trade: instant play and real privacy, with no cloud restore.
Why this site
Go Fish has plenty of implementations online, many built for real-time multiplayer rooms. This one exists to ship a single honest, fast version you can open and play alone, against opponents that actually try.
The computer opponents track their own hand and ask sensible questions instead of moving randomly, so games feel like a real table rather than a coin flip.
Every ask, hit, miss, and completed book is written out in plain language, so nothing about the state of the game is ever a mystery.
No auto-playing video, no fake "download our app" banners, no dark patterns around the settings. The how-to-play guide and FAQ describe this exact build, not a generic write-up.
How we build
The game runs entirely on the web: fast loads, tap and keyboard controls, and progress that stays local unless you clear your browser data. We use lightweight analytics to see what helps players — never to gate the game behind a profile. The engine on the home page is the one described on our rules pages, so search results and the live game never drift apart.
Phone, tablet, and desktop share one table. Tap with a mouse or a touchscreen, or use the keyboard shortcuts for muting and dealing a new game.
Games played, games won, best books in a single game, and streak per player count are stored locally. You own the continuity of your record without signing up.
We watch aggregate usage through Google Analytics to improve pacing and polish. Details are in our Privacy Policy — never as a sales pitch.
